C.E.R.T.

Plantation's Community Emergency Response Team is a critical component of the city's disaster response capability. The team illustrates the power of community engagement and shows how citizens can make a substantial difference in the community's ability to withstand and recover from disasters.

Plantation's Community Emergency Response Team, commonly referred to as C.E.R.T. is volunteer-based organization  trained to respond to the immediate needs of our first-responders and citizens following a disaster. These team consists of individuals who have received specialized training in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations.

Comprised of local residents, C.E.R.T. members are in an exceptional position to provide immediate assistance to our community in times of need. Their skills and knowledge can greatly contribute to their community's disaster readiness and resilience, making them an invaluable asset. By being an active part of the community's emergency preparedness efforts, C.E.R.T. helps to increase the likelihood that citizens will respond to emergencies in an effective and efficient manner, thus helping to reduce the severity and impact of disasters.

In addition to disaster response, CERT members often play an important role in other community activities. These can include spreading awareness about disaster preparedness, participating in local events, and providing support to local emergency services when needed.
